Project Overview |
Six kilometers of earthworks and embankment construction, complete with verge and capping layers, ready for Queensland Rail for laying of ballast and rail on 27 July 2010. This project also includes drainage works consisting of two box culverts and six pipe culverts, maintenance access road, earth swales, fencing and batter protection works. |
Project Challenges |
Lack of local materials which satisfy Queensland Rail specifications, relocation of Telstra services, and working under the strict Queensland Coal Mines Act and Regulations. |
Is Reed Doing Anything Specific To Meet Client's Needs? |
Importation and delivery of imported material on a 24-hr operation is the only way to meet material requirements in a tight schedule. Telstra relocation was fast tracked by seeking assistance from Telstra to award relocation works as soon as possible. All site staff are working under strict induction, safety standard operating procedures and constant vigilance with regards to safety. |
