Progress |
Works on the five water quality basins are progressing with the clearing grubbing of each basin being completed. The ground preparation works are under way and close to complete with initial earthworks commencing this month. Preplanning of rail corridor works and traffic staging is on going. Utilities identification and verification is progressively being completed along the 3.2km upgrade. |

Project Overview |
The work to be carried out under the contract involves the reconstruction and upgrading of 3.2 km of the Great Western Highway in the City of the Blue Mountains, between Winbourne Rd Hazelbrook and Station St Woodford. The works also include the relocation and installation of utilities, widening of the existing carriageway from one lane in each direction to a four lane divided carriageway, construction of over 5000m2 of concrete retaining walls, upgrading and installation of new road drainage to minimize impacts of flooding, property adjustments, works in the Blue Mountains Railway Corridor and Road Finishing Works. |
Project Challenges |
Working adjacent and in an existing railway corridor proposes railway possession planning issues to ensure that the planned works are carried out during the restricted times as approved. The works are to be constructed within an operating highway and will be constructed adjacent to moving traffic.. |
