Project Overview
The Construction of a new Mental Health Facility located on approximately 5.4 hectares of the Concord Repatriation General Hospital. The facility includes the construction of twelve new structures to accommodate a range of mental health treatments including Rehabilitation, Intensive Psychiatric care, Acute Psycho-geriatric care and an administration section.
Project Challenges
A major challenge for this project is that the Head Contract does not have a ‘traditional’ RFI Information System but instead a ‘Contractor Proposal’ (CP) System. Under this Information System RCA have had to identify, formulate and propose solutions in to design and site issues and to make submissions to the Principal’s Authorized Person.
Is Reed Doing Anything Specific To Meet Client's Needs?
Reed’s project team suggested and implemented an alternate wall system of hebel panels instead of the specified brickwork in certain areas of the buildings to enable cost savings to be achieved. RCA also conduct fortnightly meetings with the Clients representatives to ensure all of the Client’s needs are being met.
