Mid North Coast Integrated Cancer Care Services

Reed have been appointed managing contractor for the design, documentation and construction of two new Integrated Cancer Care Service buildings. Reed has undertaken extensive design consultation with the user groups to accommodate CT scanners and radiation treatment machines within universal bunkers.
The construction of the building includes car parking, ramps, paving and landscaping.

Challenges

One of the biggest project challenges is the construction of 800mm to 1800mm thick concrete walls to the universal bunkers. A unique concrete mix has been specifically developed to comply with radiation services guidelines whilst enabling the concrete to be pumped into place. Curing and temperature control of the large walls will also be a challenge.
Availability of local resources to meet programme and budget requirements. Possibility of sourcing subcontractors from Sydney.

Clients Specific Needs

Thorough consultation with user groups regarding the design and documentation to meet the needs of the client.
