Sydney's most eye catching new shopping centre featuring a four metre high water wall, three ponds and spectacular lighting there is no missing this retail centre when you drive along Sydney's Parramatta Road.
"I have never seen anything like that before," said Reed Constructions Project Manager Jim Mitchell. "It's almost unheard of for someone to place a sign like that outside a job."
The Auburn Power Centre is architecturally unique for a shopping and bulk goods centre containing a diverse range of construction methods including reinforced concrete, post tensioning, precast elements, structural steel, curtain wall systems and specialized skylight arrangements. From a visual perspective instead of being greeted by grey slabs of concrete en masse, the public view is of granite, glass and cascading water. A huge canopy has also been incorporated, giving the building a welcoming entrance and The concept and design was developed by the Buchan Group of Architects, with Reed winning the contract to turn this novel idea into a reality."This was landmark project for the Reed Constructions, because of the size and unique design," said Jim Mitchell.Sydney. Of further boost to Reed Constructions was the extra work it was commissioned to do. Numerous tenants requested Reeds complete their shop-fit-outs - including Dick Smith Electronics
If the exterior concept challenges the traditional view of what constitutes a retail and bulk good warehouse - the inside is also sure to turn a few heads. Once fully tenanted the Auburn Power Centre will comprise over 30 specialty shops and modern eating facilities spread over three levels. Plenty of parking is also assured on the 4.5ha site.The Spotlight Group is one of the key tenants taking 4500m2 for its arts, crafts and home wares,Anaconda's shop fit-out includes a giant barramundi fish tank - which allows would be anglers the opportunity to test the latest fishing tackle.
