Mental Health Intensive Care Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital

As part of NSW Health's initiative to create better health care through caring for our communities, Reed were engaged to build the new 12 bedroom mental health ward at Hornsby Hospital. The new building awarded to Reed after the successful completion of the emergency department stands alone from the hospital.

Built on vacant land, the 12 bedroom facility includes offices for up to 10 hospital staff, councellors, psychologists and administrators. Six of the bedrooms have their own ensuites all with no obstructing equipment. This has been achieved through sensored taps, touch button toilets and showers, recessed card readers, lights and light switches. The building maintains a high level of security throughout by the installation of security fencing around the open external components of the site as well as 24 hour closed circuit cameras and emergency alarm points in all rooms. To cater for the 25-50 plus people expected to be located within the facility at any one time a 56 spot car park was also constructed at various locations around the exterior.
