Historically, Defence has not featured in The Reed Group’s project portfolio. However, capacity constraints in Defence construction presented opportunities and a new direction emerged in 2009. Defence Support Group (DSG) places importance on managing relationships with Australian industry and providing contracting opportunities in support of Defence capability.
To realise these opportunities, The Reed Group has made a substantial investment in business development to capture Defence market share. This investment has paid off, with a contract for works at the Majura Training Area, Canberra being awarded by Defence in 2010. This project represented an entry point into a very large Defence construction market.
DSG is responsible for delivering most of the shared services that support the Australian Defence Force and Defence Groups, and is fundamental in generating Defence capability through the services it provides. DSG need to draw upon experienced civil and construction companies to deliver Major Capital Facilities and Facilities Operations outcomes. In response, The Reed Group offer its award-winning engineering team (focused on roads, bridges, rail, water, sewerage and pipelines) which is augmented by its building team with diverse experience in design, construction and management of all types of projects; with a reputation for completing projects to the highest quality, on-time and within budget.
